Friday Mixtape Volume 327 (Part I)

Friday Mixtape Volume 327Happy 4th everyone- well, American readers. After vacation time last week, and a long weekend this week, I am getting used to being a lazy stay-at-home bum. I’m looking forward to some sun, fireworks and the Buckhead Beach Party this weekend. Hope you all are having a great time wherever you are.

Last week marked the halfway point of the year, and as I’m being lazy, I decided to go ahead and compile my favorites from mixtapes so far. So, starting today, I’ll post one part of the mix a day through Sunday. All three parts will stay available through the end of the day Monday, but will come down quickly after that. Enjoy.

Friday Mixtape Volume 326

Friday Mixtape Volume 326Whew, it’s been a hot week. Rollin’ with the top down isn’t quiet so awesome when it’s 95+ degrees outside- not that it stops me from puttin’ the top down anyway. I’ve been taking a few days off here to soak in some of that hot Atlanta sun by the pool with an old friend. We’ve already blown through half of 2009, and it hardly seems like it. Next week, look for the “Best Of The First Half Of 2009 Squirrelfood Friday Mixtape”. I’ll come up with a better title by then.

On The Death Of Michael Jackson

Although it’s the biggest entertainment & music story of the year, I’m not really going to cover this. The Internet and media in general will be saturated with stories, so I’ll leave it to them. I’m not cold hearted, just on vacation. I’m a child of the 80’s and will always remember Jackson as he was when I was seven, and he was cementing his solo place in music history. The Thriller release, the ground-breaking video for the title track (that I had to watch at a neighbors because we didn’t even get Mtv), the glove… Rest peacefully in your Neverland Michael Jackson.
