Really quickly, because I have a footie match this evening, and I need to get a few things done before I leave for that:

Hard-Fi drop Stars Of CCTV on the States today, even if it's been out in the UK for well over a year. The good news is that America is hungry for it after all the buzz and publicity, and it will probably do well here. Bad news is: I'm already tired of it, and am not ready to be bombarded with it in American media. Don't get me wrong, it's a killer album- if you haven't heard it, give it a listen, or better yet: go see them. Hard-Fi play the Roxy in ATL next week.

Guster released a new single today, One Man Wrecking Machine- more music from their forthcoming album Ganging Up On The Sun, due out June 13th. The first single Manifest Destiny was out in late Jnauary. Sounds a bit too much like, well- everything else. Guster always had such a great, original sound. It was mostly the bongos and harmonies, which are barely even present on the new tracks (b-side is The New underground).

Guillemots released From The Cliffs today. The buzz around this band is pretty big, and their showcase at SXSW this week is sure to be big news. But while listening to the whole album, it's the songs I didn't already know that bored the hell out of me. For an album only 40 minutes long, a 9 minute track that is really two-4 minute songs repeated back-to-back with a pause between them is lame. But tracks like Made Up love Song #43 and Trains To Brazil are truly winners- innovative and original sounds, yet still catchy enough to appeal to a broad range of people.
