Friday Mixtape Volume 17
Jamie Kohns on April 28th, 2006
So did you think I had forgetten to do a Friday Mixtape? I didn't forget- it's just taken me a bit longer to get it posted. Things are so busy this week- my parents have been visiting, and I've been working like crazy on a few projects.
This week's mixtape is truly a mix- a collection of nearly random songs with only one thing in common: they're all new to me. Many of this week's thirteen tracks are new music out recently. Others, like Rouge's Don't Be Shy have been out for a while, but I've only just discovered them. In fact, the Rouge track was known to me as the basis for a bhangra remix of Snoop Dog's Drop It Like It's Hot that was in heavy rotation on my iPod last year. The Syd Matters track has been out for a minute now, but only recently came to my attention (and a bazillion others as well) on The O.C., which I was only watching to hear what music they'd play - seriously.
This week's cover was inspired by something Lily Allen recently told me in her answer to an interview question- yeah, that's right- Lily Allen was kind enough to answer some of my questions this week! I'm so stoked on this! The interview will be published here on SquirrelFood this later weekend. Flickr users samjudson and niznoz get credit for the images of Jelly Babies used in the cover.
