Friday Mixtape Volume 27

Friday Mixtape Volume 27I know, I'm late getting the Friday Mixtape posted- it's been a short week, and I've had lots to catch up on. Anyway, this mix this week is about as eclectic as they get- from the new Muse to Jurassic 5 teaming up with the Dave Matthews Band, it's all over the place. Two repeat artists: Paolo Nutini- whose single Last Request sports a cool video and gets him lots of comparison points to James Blunt, and Jamie T. The later should get more attention than he does for his incredible mix of singer-songwriter talents and loop-based production. In fact, it was after chasing down Jamie T's first single Slavador that I first discovered SF favorite (and summer super-star) Lily Allen. So it's not surprising that he's to be found on the mixtape again. The Waifs are currently getting a lot of attention on my iPod, they've got a great balance in the songs I've heard. And finally, songs with my name in the title (even if I think it's a girl-Jamie they're singing about) are awesome- so we've got a cut off of Hellogoodbye's self-titled EP (which could probably have been a bit shorter than 8 1/2 minutes).

Flickr.com user AliceInW supplies the photo this week- and with such great artistic vision and composition on his Flickr page, will no doubt be a source in the future.
