Chinese Democracy in Stores By Thanksgiving

Axl RoseAfter decades of delays (well, nearly), the (hopefully) final project from Guns N’ Roses will be in stores just in time for the holiday gift buying rush (by a copy fro grandma)! Chinese Democracy will appear on shelves November 23, and will probably stay on those shelves unsold until being sent to the great CD graveyard.

Jack White + Alicia Keys = Bond Music

Jack White and Alicia Keys

Jack White and Alicia Keys

Bond music has always been hit-or-miss. Shirley Bassey’s Goldfinger, Carly Simon’s Nobody Does It Better, Louis Armstrong even contributed his voice (on his last recording before his death) to We Have All The Time In The World . But then did we ever really need Sheena Easton or Madonna’s contributions? Even Chris Cornell failed miserably at this task. The latest: Jack White and Alicia Keys tag-teaming a Bond theme. Check out the radio rip below, leave your two cents in the comments.

MySpace Music To Offer Free Music

Myspace and Universal, SonyBMG, and Warner Music have hammered out an agreement to stream music from each of the labels’ catalogs for FREE on the upcoming Mysapce Music. This could be the edge the new digital music service needs to compete with iTunes. Playing off Myspace’s role as a place to discover new music, the service hopes that users will create playlists for use on their pages that others will like, and purchase from.

This is how people discover music now. It’s not happening through people reading Rolling Stone. It’s not happening through the radio. It’s happening through social networks online.”

says Luke Wood, executive VP of Universal’s Interscope Geffen A&M. Myspace co-founder Chris DeWolfe hopes advertising will add to the revenue generated by purchased songs, and hints that the service may delve into merch and ticket sales as well.
