I love it when I find great music in my inbox- and this track popped in last Friday after I’d put together the mixtape already. Since the album “O Ye Devastator” dropped today, I thought I’d give it a little plug here.

James Yuill’s This Sweet Love made an appearance on Grey’s Anatomy this week, and his new Earth & Fire version of Turning Down Water For Air remixes acoustic tracks from the album as electronic, and vise-versa. The acoustic version of This Sweet Love was in the mix this week.

Trivial tidbits (from myspace)
* The video was shot all stills – roughly 3225 still photos for the entire video, using one camera, hanging from the ceiling for the main body of the movie.
* It took 4 weeks before shooting to create an animated computer generated storyboard for the video, with 3d dummies for the characters.
* It took only 2 days of shooting for the live actors on set to re-create the 3.5 minutes computer sequence, frame by frame.
* Some of the bed sheets used in the video were taken from Oren’s own bedroom and are now considered collectors items, worth at the moment not very much and therefore used as bed sheets.
*Each of the wonderfully talented people above have worked on the video for a fraction of their normal rates (except Oren who worked for his normal rate of zero).

The woman is Israeli  model/actress Shir Shomron

Oren was originally looking for a petit, black haired actress who would look small inside the bed frame and contrast the white sheets with her dark hair. Shir happened to be a very tall, very red-haired person. She was hired immediately. She was the best thing that ever happened to the production as mid-way through the first day of shooting she began to animate her own movements, bringing new life to the existing sketches.

Amy Kuney by Sascha Knopf

Last month, Duke of Straw posted on The Late Greats about Amy Kuney in one of his regular segments “Actors Who Sing & Singers Who Act”. I read it, listened to her, liked what I heard, and even remembered her scenes in Gilemore Girls- then negelected to post about her. When she popped up in a couple other places this week, I was reminded that she’s pretty awesome and I should post on her. So, here is Awy Kuney:

Born in Oklahoma (OK!), her family moved to Guatemala when she was a teenager. While there, she and some friends were kidnapped by rebels (who eventually released them). After this experience, Amy thrust herself into writing performing. Her YouTube video covering Damien Rice’s Blower’s Daughter got her a person invite from the artist to perform with him in Iceland this July.

Before its cancellation, Amy appeared as a troubador in a couple episodes of Gilmore Girls, and her music has been used on another CW show, One Tree Hill.

I’ve got another collaboration for you tonight (insomnia’s a bitch)- this one combines the irregular flow of Mike Skinner with a less theatrical than usual Muse. Together, they sound a bit more like Rage Against the Machine than either act individually could ever sound. I know, this has been floating around the interwebs for more than a minute, but better late than never, right?
