Corinne Bailey Rae's (myspace) self-titled debut dropped yesterday in the UK, and buzz in the US has been building since her performance on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic show (files). The first single in the UK Like A Star just melted me the first time I ever heard it- it's her voice that just wraps you up in the songs, keeping you warm and close as she sings. The second single Put Your Records On (Video: WinReal) is as fun to listen to as Like A Star is heart-melting. She recently appeared on the Jo Whiley show, where she covered the unlikely Editor's track Munich. No word on the US released date of the album, but if her meteoric rise to popularity at home, or the media hype surrounding her are any indication, she'll soon be on your iPod too.
