The Subways @ The Loft
jamie on March 2nd, 2006
At just $0.99 for a ticket, who could pass up The Subways live? Apparently a lot of people, as the Loft as only filled to half capacity last night for the first US show by The Subways. That didn’t stop the London suburbanite trio from tearing the place apart with their high-energy show. Billy Lunn put on an inspired performance while claiming to be “nervous” about their first US show. It seemend like a short set, but maybe it was because I spent most of the show watching Charlotte Cooper, or maybe that a good show always seems to go by too fast. They covered nearly the whole of their album Young For Eternity, including I Want To Hear What You Have Got To Say, Oh Yeah, and closing with Rock & Roll Queen. The tour runs for 50 dates across the US, a ragged road experience for any band used to being able to cross an entire county in a day.
