Friday Mixtape Volume 141
jamie on October 12th, 2007
It finally feels like fall around here now- and I’m paying the price of colder weather: a cold. It hasn’t slowed me down too much though, and I’ve managed to pull together a really eclectic mixtape for you all this week. It’s all in there: Metal, Pop, Rap, Indie… whatever.
Thomas Haverkamp’s sharp-edged detail of some fall leaves seemed to fit the current mood here, so it’s this week’s photo. Check out more of this guy’s stuff on Flickr.
Download it here while you can!

Radiohead releases an album on their own, then Trent Reznor breaks away form his label, and Oasis and Jamiroquoi announce they will follow suit. Now, it's Madonna that's jumping on the "I'm too big for a traditional label" bandwagon. She's just announced the signing of a $120 Million deal with concert promoter Live Nation, who run over 100 venues including the House of Blues and London's Wembley Arena. Live nation has made it clear that they want to take on Ticketmaster in the tack-on-a-fee scheme. So, in the long run it doesn't mean anything for the consumer- just that some other bastard gets your $5-10 in unnecessary ticket cost. The deal would give Madonna $18 million up front, plus $17 million in advance money for each of three albums she would make under the contract, plus stock. Live Nation would get exclusize promotion of her tours.
