Friday Mixtape Volume 142
jamie on October 19th, 2007
This weekend marks a fairly sad occasion for me- after being my second home for the past couple of years, Fado in Buckhead is closing, albeit temporarily, on Saturday evening. The old building will be demolished, and there’s a temporary location down the street for the next few months while the new building is erected (it’s already framed in steel, just around the corner)- but still, my local is closing down after this weekend. SO, if you’re in Atlanta, come by Fado this weekend and have a pint with me!
OH, and I’ve got music for you… I didn’t forget! Mel suggested Johnossi, and I’m convinced I’ve been living in a box, because this duo is great, and I’m just now hearing of them? Bad Jamie! Another track from Dan Wison’s impressive new album Free Life, and a new Ryan Adams track that’s been around a while, but appears on his new EP, Follow the Lights. Other big ones this week, for the sake of keyword-packing: The Killer’s new single with Lou Reed, Tranquilize and Sigur Ros’ Hljomalind. You see, if I mention the big names, and people searching for them come to SF from a search engine, maybe they’ll also find Noah and the Whale and Siberian and Meredith Bragg and Maritime. At least, that’s the plan.
Philipp Daun offers some colorful (empty) bottles for today’s penultimate final drinking day at Fado.
Download it here while you can!
