Friday Mixtape Volume 145

Friday Mixtape Volume 145So, I kinda ran short on time this week, and don’t really even know what I’ve put in here. I just went through my “new” folder, and picked out stuff that had nifty titles, or that I had any inkling that I had liked while listening throughout the week. Then, I tossed in some new stuff downloaded off the RSS feed. I know: lazy. DOwnload it anyway- I know you want to. I’ll be back with more later.

This week’s flickr-photo cover art is another last minute thing- I was going to use an image I’ve been working on this week, but haven’t yet finished. Instead, I’ve used an image with a somewhat similar theme to it by pl_jakub.

Download it here while you can!

Yet Another Umbrella

Laughable, but yet strangely catchy version of Rhianna’s Umbrella from Sweden.

This only continues the string of often-unexpected cover versions of the pop track.

Sub Pop Offers MP3 Downloads

Sub Pop logoSub Pop has announced the availablility of portions of their catalog as MP3 downloads. The always-ahead-of-the-curve label is currently offering downloads of full albums for just $9.90. The current bitrates are 192khz, but the site promises “…if we’re faced with an overwhelming demand for higher bitrate files, we’ll certainly do what we can to accommodate.” The coolest part: You purchase an album as an album, and if there are ever any additional tracks added to future re-releases, or better quality tracks available, they will automatically be included!

Not only that, but you can download the files you’ve purchased from your account page at any time and multiple times—if we update the download in any way (think bitrate or bonus tracks or whatever), you can just log in, go to your download page and get the new version of the file.

Sub Pop’s catalog is impressive, including the likes of Band Of Horses, The Shins, Iron And Wine, The Go! Team, The Album Leaf, and Rosie Thomas. Browse the Sub Pop Digital store for more!
