This has been a shit week. I really didn’t get through all my emails, newsfeeds, etc to listen to new music this week, and I don’t really care to. So, you’re getting a best-of mixtape sorta. It’s basically the mix of some favorites from the past several months that haphazardly scobbled together. Download, listen, comment- or don’t. I really don’t care.

Cloud Cult were pretty amazing last night. I was a new experience to watch visual artist Connie Minowa work on stage while listening to her husband and band perform. It felt good, watching a band that does so much for environmental causes on Earth Day.

Wow, the weather the past couple of days has been fantastic, and I had the pleasure of getting out last night to play soccer for acouple of hours. This morning, however, my feet were killing. I spent some time today driving to various music outlets in Atlanta, trying to play as many different drum electronic kits as possible- to get a feel for what I might want in one. It’s been a decade at least since I really played a kit- living in apartments and with roommates is not condusive to playing drums (or vice versa). So, “drummer” was the keyword that lead me to this week’s image of a old guy playing kit in a club in London. I liked the old-school film look of it, and the expression on the guy’s face is great.
Anyhow- I’ve got lots of music in this week’s mixtape for y’all! New stuff from Lily Allen, Weezer and Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip along with a cover duet from Feist and Constantines. Also this week: two tracks with the same title by different artists - Easy Now by Kites, and then by Freddie Stevenson. Plus, a whole bunch of other stuff. I’m not gonna go through each artist here- just download, listen on repeat, leave a comment. Enjoy!

Akon’s a faker- go figure. The Smoking Gun.com published thier investigation into the singer’s background yesterday, revealing that his claims of four and a hlaf years of imprinsonment and being the former leader of a notorious car theft ring are in fact complete fiction. They detail the evidence completely in the article, Akon’s Con Job. Is Akon the latest Vanilla Ice? I think so.

I’ve been exceptionally busy this week, and have my family in town for the weekend, so I’m pressed for time. Not a lot of time for blogging, and I’m pretty behind in just reading other blogs. That’s my excuse for not having fully listened to this week’s mixtape. And for being short here now. Have a listen, let me know what you think.

If you write about music, activlely promote music, or just know the right people, chanses are you get promo CDs. I’ve got stacks of them. I give ‘em a listen, but then what? Should I catalog and store these promo CDs forever, just because the record label that sent it marked it as “Licensed for promotional use only. Sale is prohibited.” or “Item is to be returned to the distributor upon demand.”? I think not. Half of them are either utter crap, or just not my thing- file in the circular file. Well, Universal Music now says that throwing away these promo CDs is “an unauthorized distribution” that violates copyright law.
