I was born in 1975, which means that I was just 7 in 1982 when Cheers first hit the air, but for most of the 80’s (and therefore, my childhood) it was a staple of weekly TV. The show’s theme song, Where Everybody Knows Your Name was instantly memorable, and has an interesting story behind it. The song was written by Gary Portnoy and Judy Hart Angelo, and it’s history is detailed on Portnoy’s site, with audio of various versions leading up to the now familiar television theme.
Anyone else notice that I’ve missed the Friday mixtape? It wasn’t intentional- rather, I spent the holiday getting a killer cold (again! this season sucks!), and am still recovering. I’ve managed to pull something together for a MONDAY mixtape, but it’s just not the same. I’ve gone nearly three years without missing a Friday, and now this. It’s like the Chelsea home record lately. Anyway… I’ll do better in 2009.
