Friday Mixtape Volume 331

Friday Mixtape Volume 331I’m sure everyone has had the miserable experience of getting a song stuck in their head. It happens to me all the time. This morning, however, I had the extra-special treat of having two songs stuck at the same time. I woke up and stumbled into the shower with a mashup of Eiffel 65′s I’m Blue and Three Doors Down’s Let Me Be Myself (damn you Geico) on repeat in my cranium. What a way to start Friday!

Anyway, thanks to a listen of this week’s mixtape, my horrible affliction has been cured. I hope it does something good for each and every one that listens too it as well!

Dan Black Drops “Un” With Re-Done HYPNTZ

Dan Black‘s “Un” dropped this week in the UK, with the re-lyriced lead single Symphonies- the release version of HYPNTZ. HYPNTZ was a cover of Biggie’s Hypnotized over Rhianna’s Umbrella, but when Biggie’s management wouldn’t allow the cover to be leased on the album, Black re-wrote the lyrics, and released it at Symphonies. Normally, I would think this would result in an inferior track- but Symphonies suceeds on it’s own as much as the original lyric did.

Little Rockers

Earlier this week, a YouTube video of 5 year-old Wesley playing his cover of Johnny Chash’s Folsom Prison Blues. Moments later, the meme had expanded to this list of 10 youths playing various rock covers (well, 9 covers, and one helluva jam). My favorite has to be the drummer:

Friday Mixtape Volume 330

Friday Mixtape Volume 330So, it’s Friday again. July is flying by so fast, I feel like I’ve barely time to catch my breath before another Friday has come around. This week is no different. There have been plenty of late nights where I *could* have been blogging, but instead, I was piling through the new WebOS from Palm, trying to overcome Palm’s lack of support for a variety of basic features any OS should have in order to build good apps (filesystem anyone?). I’ll probably give the rest of the weekend to it before I give up and wait for Palm to catch up.

Oh yeah, there is a mixtape…
