Steven Page Leaves BNL

In an announcement on their website yesterday, Barenaked Ladies say that Steven Page will be leaving the band. One report says that Page is leaving because he feels his songwriting contributions were being diminished in the group. BNL started nearly 20 years ago as the duo of Page and Ed Robertson, then developed into a full band, and has become one of Canada’s national treasures over the past decade. In July last year, Page, his girlfriend and a roommate were busted on drug possesion charges in NYC. There’s some speculation that the drugs may have to do with Page’s departure.
